The contest is over. Congrats to the winner Ashley C!
If you haven’t read Heather Cocks’s and Jessica Morgan’s (a.k.a. The Fuggirls) new novel, “The Royal We,” what’s wrong with you? This book ticks all my boxes: sassy, smart American girls; handsome princes; Oxford; and complicated love affairs. Sound good to you too?
Rebecca Porter is a Midwestern American girl – the true girl next door – who finds herself studying abroad at Oxford. In fact she’s at they very college where Prince Nicholas, second in line to the throne, is enrolled. His room’s even down the hall from hers! Sound familiar? Well any resemblance this book might have to the love story of the Cambridges we all know by heart quickly fades away. Bex, as she’s known, is not a sloane-y, private school girl. She hasn’t grown up rubbing shoulders with the privileged class. She’s a bit bumbling and knows how to put a pint away (my type of girl.) She and Nicholas start off slow, keeping the reader on the edge of her seat. Will they? Won’t they? How much junk food must they eat before they hook up?? (BTW, I’m convinced “Devour = “Passions.” Discuss.)
Their siblings – Bex’s twin Lacey and the spare prince Freddie – are gems. Lacey’s saucy and Freddie’s a charming rogue. (Hmm, sounds familiar.) They give an edge to the story with a subplot almost more interesting than Bex’s and Nicolas’s. A sequel starring those two would be marvelous. (Heather and Jessica?)
“The Royal We” is one of those books that will keep you in your pajamas all day as you binge read. And then go back to the beginning and read it again. It’s sweet but has enough twists and turns to keep you wondering if there will be a happy ever after at all. A royal blast.
We’re sharing the love with one lucky person (in the USA only, sorry international peeps.) Mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and address. One entry per person per day. Contest ends at midnight CT on Friday, May 1st. Good luck!
